Outside of a lot of amazing shots and beautiful luxurious dresses, I'm not entirely sure why a lot of people would want to have this glimpse into the life of a fastidious, elite British designer.
And when you realize that this movie is perhaps P.T. Anderson poking fun at himself and his own relationship--the power play between himself and his wife, that is-- it becomes sickeningly narcissistic and navel-gazey.
And of course he's been nominated for Best Director. And Phantom Thread for Best Picture. Amongst several other nominations. Hollywood loves to have a love affair with itself.
